The Hol Day of Sultan Iskandar is a religious day of remembrance in Johor. In the Johor royal tradition, "Hari Hol" is observed to commemorate the passing of its past Sovereigns. It is a solemn occasion for the people to reflect on the reign and contributions of the late Sultan Iskandar, who also served as the 8th Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia.

Traditions & Celebrations

Special Prayers (Tahlil): Religious ceremonies, including the recitation of Yasin and Tahlil, are held at the Sultan Abu Bakar State Mosque and mosques throughout the state.
Visiting the Royal Mausoleum: The Sultan of Johor, members of the Royal Family, and state officials visit the Mahmoodiah Royal Mausoleum in Johor Bahru to offer prayers.
Giving Alms: It is common for the Royal Family and the state government to engage in charitable acts and provide meals to the underprivileged in memory of the late Sultan.
Somber Atmosphere: Entertainment and festive activities are usually kept to a minimum as a mark of respect for the day of mourning.
